2010 - 2011

This winter was WET. We did not anticipate showing during the Spring shows as Bernadette had her hands full with her boys, two year old Harry and Lockie who arrived in May. Horses were definitely not on the agenda!

However, November came and Bern found something was missing, so Staccato went to live with her and her family. He settled in very easily – so much so that about a month later when visiting I was greeted by Harry with a huge grin, “I can ride Stacci”!!

Rhapsody, at the end of November and Cadenza, early in December both had colt foals by Fairfield Nijinsky. Neither birth was straight forward and entailed a  number of sleepless nights. However, all was worth while as both are really nice with the most wonderful temperaments.

The RPSBS Ltd Tas. Branch Show was in January, so we took both Staccato and Fantasia. Staccato won his led class as well as his ridden class and was Reserve Champion Led Gelding and also Reserve Champion Ridden Show Pony. Fantasia repeated her performance from 2010 and after winning her led filly class was again Champion Led Show Pony Filly. They both then combined to reproduce the previous year's win in the the Sire's Progeny class for their sire Fairfield Nijinsky. A great achievement.

Next was the EA HOTY in Hobart. Staccato worked extremely well in both the Rising Star Galloway, where he was Runner-up and also in the Small Galloway where he came third and the combination of he and Bern were Smartest on Parade.

To finish the very short season, Staccato's final outing was Exeter Show where he was Reserve Champion Galloway. Exeter Show was inspiring as Fairfield Sonata had her first show outing with her owner, Lyd Davis and her full brother Fairfield Overture, who is a real schoolmaster for the Ransom family, was also there. These three were all out of Fairfield Harmony (dec.). Lucy Davis was also having her first start in a show on Fairfield Nureyev, so it was a very interesting and fun day for us all. Nureyev is excelling as a great all rounder at Pony Club. Sonata has started her dressage career.

Congratulations to Tania Hay who stands Fairfield Nijinsky at her Stud, Alinda Park. He again took out the Sire's Rating for the second season running. His progeny are proving their ability, as apart from the smaller types, Alinda Park Make It Happen was Runner-up Large Galloway and Alinda Park Make Certain was the Rising Star Hack winner and also Overall Rising Star at the 2011 EA HOTY.

Fairfield Fonteyn retired to stud and was covered by Turberry Tom Kitten, so we are living in great hope and anticipation for the coming season!

As before I have some wonderful helpers, whom I could not be without! Apart from Bern with the ponies, and Damien at shows, Karen and Sue are always there when necessary. I cannot thank them all enough.
