Fairfield Stud - About Us

Fairfield is a small stud, which originated on the property of Fairfield at Epping Forest in the northern Midlands of Tasmania. After the property was sold in the late 1990's we moved to a considerably smaller area at Devon Hills, just south of Launceston.

The aim of the Stud is to continue breeding quality ponies with good quiet temperaments. This is achieved by all foals being handled from the moment they are born until they are broken-in, which is done on the property by ourselves. With their education being carried out on our property we know exactly how each individual reacts to their lessons and how to continue with their education.

The Stud has always been very keen on breeding "type" and looking for the best sires to cross with each particular mare. By doing this, it has proved an excellent way of breeding.

The majority of Fairfield ponies can trace their pedigrees back to at least twenty generations.

The achievements of Fairfield Stud are proof that it is quality, not quantity that counts as we are a very small stud. We look forward to the future following out thirty years plus with much hope and anticipation.
